Welcome to my website- (in progress) my name is Steve Van Scott and I am looking to start an original band. I have a catalogue of 20+ songs and am interested in playing live and recording. Here are 3 songs that are a good sampling of what I'm all about. These are demos that I recorded on an AKAI dps 16. I record everything direct for simplicity and use the dps 16 as a "sketch pad" for laying out ideas, moving things around and working with the arrangements. The sounds are a bit flat and dry but it works well as a quick way of getting ideas together- these would be the blueprints for studio recordings.
The configuration for the band I have in mind is 3 guitars, bass and drums with 2 strong backing vocals. I play guitar and sing lead and would be the 2nd lead guitar, a 1st lead guitar and a rhythm player would round out the guitar requirements. There's a very tight vocal harmony aspect to all of my songs and will require singers who can hear and sing intricate vocals. The band will be a hybrid rock/pop/punk overdriven sort of thing and my goal is to nail down a Marshall endorsement deal somewhere along the way. The visual of this band as well as the stage configuration will be well thought out and professional. I have a definite schedule in mind- rehearsals (practices will be in Doylestown PA), venues, mile stones and I want to move very quickly. My goal is to assemble a well rehearsed set of 11 songs, get into the studio record and release an EP within 6-8 months. At 3-4 months be out playing at least twice a month (very strategic gigs) and have the band opening for big names within 2 years. This project is well funded and as I said, will be moving fast.
